Gifts & Memorial Donations

Christopher Kenneth Harris was received into Heaven on Friday, July 13, 2018 after an extended illness. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, fiancé and friend.

He was born on February 9, 1988 and was a lifelong resident of Hendersonville, NC. He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Lora McCall Harris of Flat Rock; sisters, Caroline Harris Bellamy (and husband, Mikey) of Flat Rock and Lydia Harris of Boone; nephew, Charles Bellamy (Uncle “Chis’s” “precy” boy); several aunts, uncles, cousins; and a wealth of friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Bud and Jeanette McCall and Rev. John and Beulah Harris.

Chris was our gentle giant. He had beautiful blue eyes and knew how to use them to get his way. He had a heart for others and was loved by so many. He attended Dana Elementary, Flat Rock Middle School and East Henderson High School, class of 2006. Chris had a passion for basketball and played on a travel team in addition to being a proud Eagle – # 42.

He was employed as a security guard at Carolina Village, where he was loved and treated so well during his illness. Chris was a lifelong member of Bethel Wesleyan Church, where he experienced true love of a church family.

Chris went through some hard years with addiction. We, as his family, include this because those years were part of what formed him into the man he had become. God’s grace delivered him from those chains and can do that for anyone else who is suffering from that battle. Over the last two and a-half years, he suffered with chronic pancreatitis. He lived with daily pain and other complications. Chris tried to enjoy living a normal life and not complain although it was obvious he was struggling.

In 2015, he met the love of his life, TaSheena Vinson, who has been a faithful fianceé and caregiver. Dr. James Caserio was Chris’ hero. He treated our son with respect, trust, and worked diligently to manage his symptoms and help us find specialty care for him. He was our “A-Team” and we will be forever grateful for the long hours he spent with us.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Chris’ life will be held at 11AM Tuesday, July 17 at Bethel Wesleyan Church with the Reverend Tim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6-8 PM Monday evening and at other times, will be at the home of Kenneth and Lora Harris. In honor of Chris’ love for the Carolina Tarheels, we ask that everyone attending his celebration wear Carolina Blue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Contact Ministries, P.O. Box 2886, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
