Aaron Cecil Whiteside, 78, of Mills River, died Thursday, March 10, at his home. Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Aaron Zackie and Mispha Necola Fowler Whiteside. He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Aaron Roger Whiteside and Kevin C. Whiteside. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in both the Army and Navy. He lived most of his life in Henderson County and owned and operated Whiteside Builders. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Kaye Whiteside of Hendersonville; sister, Lucille Whiteside; brother, Wallace Whiteside; three grandchildren, Sarah Marie Whiteside, Rachel Kay Whiteside and Hannah Grace Whiteside and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 10 am Friday, March 28, 2011 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Burial will be at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

    I have been a friend of Cecil's for 20 years. We spend a lot of time together with the Western North Carolina Singles Club. He opened his home to all of us and we did appreciate that.I am sorry for your loss as he was a figher for his life

    Cecil was a very good friend and will be missed. I first met Cecil at the Airgun shows. Because my father was in Asheville I often visit Cecil at his home. Will miss his presents at the future airgun shows. Larry & Joyce Behling
