A. Earl Capell, 84, of Hendersonville passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Elizabeth House.

He was a long time resident of Henderson County and was a son of the late William Mack Capell and Hettie Cobb Capell. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mabel Reed, Sarah Fowler, Eunice Stepp, and Rosa McMinn; and a brother, Reverend Luther Capell.

Mr. Capell retired from Kimberly Clark Berkeley Mills where he was instrumental in the development of a variety of disposal products and patents. He was on the Board of Western Carolina Community Action and was apart of the development of the Head Start Program. Mr. Capell was the President of Balfour Elementary PTA and was one of the founding members of the First Baptist Church Mills River.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Latham and husband, Troy and Becky Pittman and husband, Fred, both of Hendersonville; his grandsons, Tim Foti and wife, Heather of Washington, DC and Rodney King and wife, Stephanie of Hendersonville; two great-grandchildren, Alan Foti of Moore, OK and Dare King of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Bill Price, Polly Cartee, Cora Morris, and Peg Johnson.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Royce Bailey, Dr. Jones, Dr. Albers, Dr. Medina and the staff at the Elizabeth House for all of their care and compassion. Happy Fathers Day and enjoy your new home, we will miss you Daddy.

A service will be held 2pm Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at First Baptist Church Mills River, in the building of Mills River Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Reverend Andy Carrein will officiate. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and at other times the family will be at Mr.Capellís home.
