Allan K. ìBig Alî Overgaard, 72 of Flat Rock, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home.
He was born in Exira, Iowa to the late Andrew & Hilda Overgaard. He is also preceded in death by a son, Todd A. Overgaard, a sister, Anna Mae Snyder, a brother, Robert Overgaard, a son-in-law, Stephen D. Wheelon, and a brother-in-law, Robert Finn.
Al was a graduate of Gray High School and attended technical school. He moved to Hendersonville in 1978 having been transferred as manager of Simley Hosery. Al then owned and operated Blue Ridge Vending from 1992-2000; and retired in 2010 from Highland Lake Golf Course.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Knights of Columbus, and the Lions Club.
AL is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet Thelen Overgaard; two daughters, Brenda Overgaard Wheelon of Flat Rock and Traci Overgaard English and her husband William M. Ammann of Hendersonville; a daughter-in-law, Cindy F. Overgaard of Flat Rock; six grandchildren, Ashley R. Wheelon, Elizabeth R. Wheelon, Eric W. English, Alaina N. English, Matt A. Ammann, Rebekah Ammann, R. Tyler Ammann and Andrew M. Overgaard all of Hendersonville; and a sister, Audrey E. Finn.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the St. Francis Parish Hall of the church.
