Alvin Turner, 76, of East Flat Rock, died Saturday, April 27, at his home following a lengthy illness. A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late John and Lois Waters Turner. A resident of Henderson County since 1960, he had owned and operated a lawn and tree service for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 7 sisters and 3 brothers.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roma Jean Turner; three daughters, Apryl Turner, Jackie Turner, Debbie Passmore and her husband George, all of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Josh, Jeremy, Casey, Jamie and Kohen; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Sue Irvin of Atlanta, GA and Genelle Barkley of Hendersonville and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 pm Monday, April 29, at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence.
