Arthur E. Veach, Sr., 79, of Mills River passed away at his home following an extended illness. A native of Richmond, Indiana, he lived in Henderson County the last fifty-seven years. He was a son of the late Emory and Dora Veach, and was also preceded in death by his son, Arthur Veach, Jr. in 2007. He was an ASE certified master mechanic, and was the owner and operator of Veachís Auto Clinic and Five Point Shell Service Center. He was a member of Naples Baptist Church, and a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He loved Golfing and yard work.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Freida Veach; a son, Michael Veach of Hendersonville; a daughter, Darline Glaus and her husband Gregg of Jessup, MD; a grandson, Arthur James Harmon-Glaus of Jessup MD.; a granddaughter, Tracy Whiteside of Hendersonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Naples Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Merck officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77, Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post #5206, and DAV Chapter 14. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am prior to the service in the church.
