Betty Eleanor Wohlberg Jones, 90, of Hendersonville passed away peacefully on June 16, 2013 at Carolina Village after a short struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Betty was married to the late Melville Alan Jones who died in 1972. Together, they had three children, Alan who died in 1971, Linda Bilec, nee Jones, and Donna Jones Chotvacs, nee Jones who died in 2011.
Betty was born in Port Huron, Michigan on November 17, 1922. After graduating from Port Huron High School in May of 1939, she received her Bachelor and Master Degrees from Michigan State Normal College and a Masters from Wayne State University. Betty taught elementary grades for 33 years in Michigan, mostly with the Grosse Ile School System.
As elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Betty began an Out-to-Lunch Brunch Sundays after Church service.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Bilec of Temple, Texas, and four grandchildren, Jennifer Bilec-Sullivan of Leeds, England; Captain Christopher Bilec of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Alexander Chotvacs and Caroline Chotvacs, both of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, June 24, 2013 in the Village Hall of Carolina Village. Rev. Mark Stanley will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made in Bettyís name to the Cancer Society of your choice.
