Betty Lee Bobb passed away September 17, 2018 at Carolina Village Medical Center. She was born in Peebles Ohio, the fourth of six children, to Glenn and Mary Knechtly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Knechtly.
She grew up in Hillsboro, OH, graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended The Ohio State University.
Betty is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Michael (Kimberly) of Lake City, Minnesota and grandson, Nicholas of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; sisters, best friend Mae Smith of Ballwin, MO; Barbara Snyder of Wilmington, Ohio; Linda Young of New Vienna, Ohio; and a brother, John Knechtly (Phyllis) of Dayton, Ohio.
Betty and Richard were married 57 years. In addition to being a constant source of love and support to her family, Betty was a friend to many, offering a beautiful smile and friendship to all. She was first and foremost a good wife, mother, and grandmother who spread sunshine and courageously fought growing health problems over the past decade. Never down, she was a fighter through all adversity. Betty also loved to travel, read, golf, support the Buckeyes, and participate in anything involving the family. Betty was an Ordained Deacon serving in churches in Connecticut, California and North Carolina, and gave generously of her time in volunteer activities including a stint as co-director of a church senior center serving the Chinatown community in San Francisco. She was an accomplished interior decorator, operating her own business for a few years in San Francisco.
The family wants to thank the staff and residents of Carolina Village, and especially Ginny Vallar and the late Alice Johannsen, for their loving care and support, as well as the professional team from Four Seasons Hospice.
