Beulah K. Harris, 90, of Flat Rock, was received into Heaven on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House.
A native of High Point, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. Kidd and Myrtle Rule Kidd. She married The Rev. John G. Harris in 1948 and they served the NC West District of The Wesleyan Church for 39 years. The served at St. Stephens (1950 ñ 1952), Greensboro First (1952 ñ 1963), Kings Mountain First (1963 ñ 1967), Asheville First (1967 ñ 1970), Canton (1970 ñ 1971), Midway ñ Randleman (1971 ñ 1975), Bethel ñ Hendersonville (1975 ñ 1980), McAdenville (1980 ñ 1984), Kings Mountain First (1984 ñ 1989), when they retired and moved to Henderson County. In her later years, she also lived in Kernersville before coming back to Flat Rock in March 2010.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John G. Harris, a grandson, Cameron Michael Harris, and her brother, R. Glenn Kidd.
She was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church where she served as pianist for many years. While serving at the other churches, she was always involved in teaching Sunday School and playing either the piano or organ. She was active in the Wesleyan Womenís missionary society and always enjoyed Camp Meetings in Colfax, NC. Additionally, she was a registered dietician and worked at several retirement facilities including Wesleyan Arms in High Point, NC and Carolina Village, in Hendersonville, NC.
Surviving are two sons, Mike Harris and wife, Suzie of Kernersville and Ken Harris and wife, Lora of Flat Rock and five grandchildren, Christopher, Caroline, Lydia, Evan and Seth.
A funeral will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Bethel Wesleyan Church. The Revs. Tim Clark, Jerry Lumston, Todd Reynolds and Robert Allred will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm Tuesday at the church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hendersonville Health and Rehab and The Elizabeth House for their loving care of ìMaw Mawî in her last days.
