Billy Ray Sargent, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2017. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson county, he was a son of the late Frank Sargent Sr. and Estelle Redden Sargent Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Stacy Ray Sargent and Billy Sargent Jr.; two brothers, Bobby Sargent and Frank Sargent Jr.

Billy worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Kings Grove Baptist Church.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Kings Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Phillip Capell will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Shuler Funeral Home.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cora Genelle Sargent; one daughter, Wendy Wilkie (Tim); four grandchildren, Mark Beddingfield (Bethany), Amanda Dellinger (Robert), Hailee and Brittany Wilkie; five great grandchildren, Charlotte Ivy Dellinger, Noah, Camden, and Brantley Beddingfield, and Malakai Mccordic; his special fur baby, Rascal; his brother and sisters, Tommy Sargent, Carolyn Banther, Shirley Gorham, Darlene Stepp, and Barbara Barnwell as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank PACE care partners, Hospice, and his home health caregiver, Kathy, for their loving care.
