Bobby Hugh McMinn, 74, of East Flat Rock, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A lifelong native of Henderson County, he was the son of the late James Hubert and Sue Mahaffey McMinn. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie, James, C.D., David and John, and his sister, Nancy Swayngim.
Bobby attended West Henderson High and volunteered for the draft, serving two years in the US Army. He retired from Kyocera Industrial Ceramics and in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and gardening.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Irene Bell McMinn; daughter, Thonya Stepp and husband Chris of East Flat Rock; son, Tony McMinn and wife Kim of Saluda; grandchildren, Shawn, Kaci, Sam, Abby and Trenholm; great-grandchildren, Abel and Sawyer; sister, Annie Sue Blythe of Fletcher; brothers, Tom and Donald McMinn of Mills River, Dennis McMinn and wife Linda of Horse Shoe and Billy McMinn and wife Joy of Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, August 4, 2018 in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.
