Calvin C. McMahan

Calvin McMahan, 84, of Edneyville, NC, went home to Heaven to be with his beloved wife Marie on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.

He was the son of the late Cordelle and Liddie Clark McMahan and husband of Marie McMahan, who died in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, William Brown, and great-granddaughter, Megan.

He served in the US Navy for 22 years. After retiring from his military service, he was employed by Taylor Instrument Company for 20 years in their shipping department. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and well-known as an extremely good cook.

He is survived by his loving family, his daughter, Teresa Ruff and husband, Jesse, of Hendersonville; his grandchildren, Noelle, Cynthia, Debrina; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, John, Heather, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Toni.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 4, 2009 at Wayside Baptist Church. The Rev. Jeff Tankersley will officiate. Burial will follow at Dunlap Family Cemetery in Mountain Home with Graveside Military Honors conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
