Carol Jeanne Rasmussen, 78, of Hendersonville, NC, died Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Born on Christmas Eve of 1929 in Belding, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late James and Isa Lafferty. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, James, Ted, Philip, Gloria, Theora, Isalene, and Marilyn.

She received her BA degree in Elementary Education in 1953 from Andrews University in Michigan and her MA in Education in 1958 from the University of Michigan. Carol taught in elementary schools for eight years before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She and her family lived at various times in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Connecticut before moving to Hendersonville. She was fond of gardening, was an avid reader, and was known for her generosity.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph H. Rasmussen of Hendersonville; two children, Eric Rasmussen of Colorado Springs, CO, and Lisa Rasmussen of Berkley, MA; two brothers, Calvin and Hollis, and two sisters, Alice and Zereta.

A private funeral service will be held; a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
