Carolyn Corry Cogan Gay, 88, of Hendersonville, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Bridge of Lake Pointe Landing.

She was born in Tifton, GA and was the daughter of the late Asa Reid Corry and Mae Lindsey Corry. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, John Cogan; her second husband, Rudy Gay; and a son, Bill Cogan.

Carolyn received her B.S. from Queens College and M.A. from Western Carolina University. She taught school for many years. Carolyn worked in Girl Scouts, 4H Clubs, & Home Demonstration Clubs. She was a member of AAUW, NC Association of Educators, St. Johnís in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma. Carolyn was an avid bridge player and will be dearly missed by her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Cogan Peninger and her husband Randy of Arden and Terry Cogan Champion and her husband Mike, of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Virginia Harrell and her husband Bob; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard Cemetery with Rev. Douglas Woofter officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Shuler Funeral Home.
