Charles J. Pelc, 82, of Hendersonville, NC, went home Saturday, October 24, 2009, to be with his Heavenly Father and loving wife, Norma, who passed away in 2007.
Born in Berwyn, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles and Bessie Sirotek Pelc.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy. He received his Aeronautical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois. He retired from IBM in 1987, where he worked on many projects, including the Apollo Space Program
He was an avid skier and volunteer with the Henderson County Sheriffís Department. He will be remembered as a loving husband, adoring father, and beloved brother.
He is survived by his loving family, his sons, Jay Pelc and wife, Lorrie, of Hendersonville, and Chris Pelc and wife, Margaret, of Stokesdale, NC; grandchildren, Samantha and Robert Pelc; sister, Patricia Uecker and husband, Leonard, of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Dolores Crilly of IL; brothers-in-law, Richard Janacek of FL, and James Horn and wife, Gale, of IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Thursday, October 29, 2009 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Reverend Glenn Camp will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
