Charles ìYatesî Pearson, 71, of Flat Rock, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Elizabeth House of Flat Rock following a short illness.
A native of Cleveland County, NC, he was a son of the late Onnie and Luola ìPatî Mauney Pearson. He was a resident of Henderson County for most of his life and an excellent auto mechanic for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katie Knight and sister, Rachel Mixon.
He was a member, church caretaker, and Elder of Jones Gap Baptist Church. His church work was extremely important to him. His interests consisted of fishing and hunting, as well as drag racing, which he began at age 65.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Glenda Pearson; son, Charles Gregory Pearson and wife, Sherry of Flat Rock; daughter, Barbara Knight and husband, Danny of Hendersonville; stepson, Clifford Harrison, Jr. and wife, Audra of Dallas, TX; stepdaughter, Laura Robinson of Flat Rock; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Vernon Pearson of Sunshine, NC, Dean Pearson of Dana, and Herman Pearson of Edneyville.
