Hendersonville – Daniel “Dan” Henry Simpson, 88 of Hendersonville passed to his heavenly home on September 25, 2015 at the Elizabeth House. He was born in Moline, IL on June 28, 1927, the son of Daniel H. Simpson, Sr. and Sara B. Simpson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Simpson to whom he was married for 56 years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Simpson; sister, Sally Holl and husband Bruce of Savannah, GA; sons Dwight Simpson of San Francisco, CA and Scott Simpson and wife, Suzanne of Waukesha, WI; two grandchildren, Heather Simpson and Matthew Simpson, also of Waukesha, WI, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served stateside during World War II. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and served on their board for a number of years. His career was spent in the accounting field in the Chicago area.
Dan and his wife, Janice retired to Hendersonville in 1992 where he was active in the Hendersonville Shrine Club, serving as Patient Coordinator for several years. He recently received his 50-year certificates as a Master Mason and Shriner. He was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hendersonville.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Reverend Dr. E. Richard Weidler and Reverend Barbara Rathbun officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 12502 North Pine Dr., Tampa, FL 33612 or Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen St., Flat Rock, NC 28731. Shuler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
