He later founded Sherman Realtors in Marshall and was an active member and officer of the Battle Creek Board of Realtors.

Upon retirement, he and Mrs. Sherman made their permanent home at Boca Grande, Florida. He then became a licensed salt-water fishing guide. At this time, Mr. Sherman was the driving force in the creation of several artificial fishing reefs in the Gulf of Mexico.

In addition to his love of fishing, Mr. Sherman enjoyed a lifelong interest in golf. As a young boy his love of the game commenced as he often played with his father at the Marshall (MI) Country Club.
