The Lord called his faithful servant David Garland, 68, of Hendersonville to his Heavenly reward on Monday, January 28, 2013.
Born in Fletcher in 1944, he was the son of the late Taylor and Birdie Garland. David graduated from West Henderson High School in 1962. He and his family moved from Arden to Hendersonville in 1976. David worked his entire 37 year career with Ball Brothers.
David was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Linda Bagwell Garland; three children, Tony Garland and wife, Julie, of Horse Shoe, NC; Tommy Garland and wife, Tammy, of Wake Forest, NC; Sonya Simpson and Tim Anders, of Hooperís Creek, NC; three grandchildren, Jessica Garland, Lori Simpson and Austin Anders; three sisters, Jeanetta DuVall of Hooperís Creek, NC; Mae Hughes of Baltimore, MD; and Brenda Case of Hendersonville, NC; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend and dog, Bubba.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at Hooperís Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 7:30 pm Wednesday prior to the service.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Phillip Youngblood officiating.
