Dean Harold Wheeler, 75, of Hendersonville passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Elizabeth House. Born on September 1, 1939 in Yancey County, NC, he was a son of the late Sam W. Wheeler and Maphra L. Miller Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma F. Owenby.

Dean graduated from Bee Log High School in 1957 and was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He retired after 32 years of service from Southern & Norfolk Southern Railroad as a conductor.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra M. Blythe; son, Phillip D. Burleson; grandsons, Tyler and Aaron; and several nieces and a nephew.

No services are planned at this time.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mission Health and the Elizabeth House for their professional and compassionate care shown to Dean.
