Dennis F. McConnell, 67 of Mills River, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at his home. Born in Rosman, he was a son of the late William M. McConnell and Mary Prather McConnell.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude McConnell; a sister, Thelma Lance; and a daughter, Denise McConnell.

He was a law enforcement officer for most of his career and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Sherry Allison McConnell; two sons, Dennis R. McConnell and Shane McConnell; four brothers, Odean McConnell of Pisgah Forest, Carl McConnell of Asheville, Eugene McConnell of Arden, and Frank McConnell of Gainesville, GA.
