Derek D. Erwin, 36, of East Flat Rock, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008 at Pardee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville, Co., SC, he was the son of Wanda Erwin Elliott of East Flat Rock and the late Frank Wallace Erwin.

He was a graduate of Reynolds High School in Fairview and employed by Henderson County Solid Waste Department. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a wonderful father to his son.

He is survived by his loving family, his son, Christopher Erwin of the home; his mother and stepfather, Wanda and Bill Elliott of East Flat Rock; two brothers, Kevin Erwin of Asheville and Erik Erwin of Las Vegas, NV; and two nephews, Nick and Noah Erwin of Asheville.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Shuler Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow immediately at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the home of Wanda and Bill Elliott.

    To The Family, We knew Derek from the Landfill. He would ALWAYS give Bitsy and Bailey a dog biscuit every week. We enjoyed talking to him. He was a very sweet person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
