Gifts & Memorial Donations

With a grateful and happy heart and a mind at peace, Don Burns went to be with his Lord and Master Jesus Christ on February 28, 2019.
He was born in Detroit, MI. A graduate of Michigan State University, he served as 1st LT in the US Army, raised his family in Kalamazoo, traveled the world on business, then completed his work life in Wisconsin before retiring to Hendersonville, NC with his dear Sandy in 1997.
A tireless provider, Don’s priorities would forever change in 1974 when he committed his life to Jesus Christ! He now led his family spiritually as well, mentored many men, taught Sunday School, and prayed without ceasing.  His final weekly “activities” at age 86 were two separate prayer groups with dear brothers.
In addition to Sandra, his wife of 59 years, Don is survived by daughter, Betsy (Burns) Johnson and her husband Lyle, their children Keturah, Aleta (Andrews) and Esther; as well as son Dave Burns, his wife Shannon (Young) Burns and their daughter Roxanna.
A service will be held in Black Mountain, NC at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, March 5 at 12:00 in the chapel, followed by interment.

Should friends desire, contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Kalamazoo Area Youth for Christ.

“Because you have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice!”
Psalm 63:7
