Doris L. Laut, 94, of Carolina Village, died Monday, January 2, at Carolina Village Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Washington, DC, she had been a resident of Henderson County for thirty years. She also spent many winters in Deerfield Beach, FL. She attended American University in Washington, DC and had worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, at one time serving as administrative assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture. She retired from the department after 35 years of service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Laut is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Don and Carol Laut of Sandy Spring, MD; two grandsons, David Laut of San Diego, CA and Daniel Laut of Sandy Spring, MD; a brother, Daniel Hall of Pawley’s Island, SC and Phyllis Ebert of St. Michale’s, MD.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Magnolia Room of Carolina Village Medical Center. Rev. Dr. Bill Campbell will officiate. The family will receive guests in the Magnolia Room following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, for the Community Bible Study fund, 699 N. Grove St. Hendersonville, NC 28792.
