Dr. Edward E. Wilamowski, 91, of Laurel Park passed away Tuesday, January 3, at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Edward E. and Severina Danowski Wilamowski. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Joan Demaris Wilamowski and his wife of 35 years, Jane Royle Hoppenstedt Wilamowski. He received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Lansing, MI and his BS and Dentistry degree from the University of Detroit Dental School. He served in the U.S. Army Enlisted Reserve Corps, receiving his honorable discharge in January 3, 1944. He had also served as a dentist with the U.S. Air Force and was head of oral surgery while stationed in Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK. He was honorably discharged in February 19, 1957. He opened a dental practice the same year in Milford, MI, practicing dentistry for 30 years, during which time he also received specialty training in orthodontics. He was head of the American Dental Association for a 5 state District and was a life member of the Michigan Dental Association. He retired in 1987 and moved to Hendersonville. He had been an active member of First Baptist Church. Dr. Wilamowski is survived by his wife of 3 years, June B. Wilamowski; a son, Eric Jan Wilamowski of Clarkston, MI; 2 grandchildren, Rachel Jan Luedke and Eric Edward Wilamowski; 3 great-grandchildren, Lexie Wilamowski and Dane and Chase Luedke; 3 step-children, Bonnie Hoppenstedt Purcell of Scottsdale, AZ, Glenn Royle Hoppenstedt of Auburn Hills, MI and Traci George Backes of Harrisburg, NC; 5 step-grandchildren, Kristen Vorobel, Tracie Blumenthal, Scott Hoppenstedt and Madeline and Kenan Backes; and 4 step-great-grandchildren, Mason and Maclain Blumenthal and William and Elin Hoppenstedt. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 12, at First Baptist Church, Hendersonville. Rev. Steve Scoggins and Rev. James Elwell will officiate.
