Dwight Alfred Blythe, 65, of Hendersonville died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.
Born in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the late Glenn Roy and Martha Matilda Bell Blythe.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Blythe was a Corporal with the 3rd Marine Division of the US Marine Corps, serving as a Demolition Expert. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic and a member of Upward Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Kathleen Evelyn Blythe; his sons, Anthony Crawford and wife, Tammy, of Hendersonville, and Austin Blythe of Asheville; two grandchildren, Kristina and Tyler Crawford; two brothers, Truett Blythe and wife, Betty, and David Blythe; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Upward Baptist Church with the Reverends Paul Chandler and Dan Blackwell officiating. Music will be provided by the Justice Family Singers. Burial will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14. The family will receive friends from 6 ñ 8 PM Friday at Shuler Funeral Home.
