Earl Hamilton Kilpatrick, 85, passed away December 4, 2014 in League City, Texas.

Born on July 6, 1929, in Henderson County, North Carolina, Earl was the son of the late Ralph Kilpatrick and Vanena Capps Kilpatrick. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Isaac Seldon Kilpatrick and Essie Hamilton Kilpatrick; his maternal grandparents, William Thomas Capps and Ellafair Holbert Capps; and his sister-in-law, Betty Henderson Kilpatrick.

He attended East Flat Rock Elementary, Dana Elementary School, and Dana High School. Earl graduated from Central Wesleyan College, Central, South Carolina, and Marion College, Marion, Indiana. He taught public high school for seven years in Henderson County, NC. On December 26, 1954, Earl married Meredith Oneita Doss. He pastored Grace Baptist Church, East Flat Rock, NC for twelve and a half years. Earl founded Faith Christian Day School in Hendersonville, NC in 1962 and was principal for ten and half years. In 1972 he became president of Frontier Baptist Missions,serving until June 2013. He and his family moved to the La Feria/Santa Rosa, Texas area in 1973.

Earl was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church, Saluda, NC.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Oneita Doss Kilpatrick, Harlingen, TX; son, David (Michelle) Kilpatrick, League City, TX; daughter, Beth (Craig) Bookout, Lytle, TX; grandsons, Stephen Bookout, Lytle, TX and Nathan Bookout, Ft. Rucker, AL; brother, Glen Ray (Libby) Kilpatrick, Concord, NC; nieces, Susan (Mike) Sink, Winston-Salem, NC and Brenda (David) Fink, Concord, NC; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church, Saluda, NC with Rev. Henry Vegter and Rev. Teddy Shumpert officiating. Visitation will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, Saluda, NC from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.

    I only met Mr Kilpatrick at David and Michelle wedding but he was a very hospitable man.Mrs.Kilpatrick and him welcomed me to their mission and showed me around. I know that David Iearned some genuine christian traits from his parents as evidenced by his love devotion and care for my best friend Michelle.May Mr.Kilpatrick legacy live on in David and Beth as well as his grandchildren Blessings to the family in your great loss of this man of god.
