Edward J. Corn (Reverend Edd Corn), 86, of Saluda, NC, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born in Tuxedo, he was the son of the late George Franklin and Ella Capps Corn. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, James, Harley, Willie, J.C., and George Corn.
A World War II veteran, he served in the US Army in France and Germany.
He was a Baptist preacher for 62 years, ministering as a pastor, evangelist and missionary in many states in the US as well as in several foreign countries, including Cuba before Castroís takeover. His lifeís mission was to help others.
He is survived by his loving family, his sisters, Betty Beddingfield; Margaret Holbert and husband, Willis; and Elizabeth Bradley; one brother, Albert Corn and wife, Jeanette, of Zirconia; a dear friend, Frances Meeks and her family of Metter, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, September 19, 2011 at Fair Haven Baptist Church. Pastor Henry Vegter and Reverend Robert Bradley will officiate. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
