Edwin “Skip” Closs White III

Edwin “Skip” Closs White, III lost his battle with Myelodysplasia Leukemia at 12:30am on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Elizabeth House. Born on May 13, 1953 to Betty Page White and the late Edwin Closs White, II. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne White Barnwell.  Skip was a graduate of the Hendersonville High School class of ’71 and then attended and graduated from Montreat College, Western Carolina University and Cecil’s Business College.

Skip was a beloved member of the Hendersonville Elks Lodge #1616 and was a former Deacon of Living Water Church. He loved to play golf and was a die-hard Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan. Skip never met a stranger and was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, pop-pop and friend and he will be missed tremendously.

Skip loved his family immensely and he leaves behind his devoted wife of 32 years, Susan White; 2 daughters, Tiffany Lowrance and her husband Robbie and Meagan White and her fiancé Steve Petusky; his adored grandchildren, Cooper, Rylee Mae and Bristol; sisters, Linda Ellis and her husband Bob and Debbie Hooker and her husband Rossi; brother, Stephen White; brother-in-law, Roger Barnwell; uncles, Arthur Redden and his wife Anne and Tommy White and his wife Rose Ann; aunt, Harriet Fox and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Living Water Church which is located at 1284 Sugarloaf Rd in Hendersonville. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the service. A celebration of life will also be held at 3pm at the Hendersonville Elks Lodge #1616.
