Residents of Carolina Village in Hendersonville, North Carolina, were saddened to hear of the death of longtime resident Elizabeth Slating Johnson (Betty) on 3-2-2023.
Betty was born in Romeo, Michigan on 6-24-1925 to parents Edgar John Slating and Jean Allene Sutherland Slating. She graduated from Romeo High School in 1942 as class valedictorian. She attended the University of Michigan, and graduated from the Military Cadet program as a Registered Nurse in 1946.
Betty retired after 20 years of employment at Graham Health Center, Oakland University in Rochester Michigan, in 1987. Shortly afterwards, she and her husband Bob moved to Etowah, North Carolina. They enjoyed years exploring Western North Carolina with family and friends. They were longtime active members of the First Congregational Church-UCC in Hendersonville.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled at Carolina Village, Hendersonville, North Carolina ,in the Magnolia Room, on 3-9-2023 at 10:00 am, with a service in Michigan this summer.
Betty was preceded in death by her 9 siblings, along with her beloved husband Robert C. Johnson. She is survived by her children Ann Batchelor (Tom), David Johnson (Andrea Funk), Alan Johnson (Debbie), 5 grandchildren, 2 great grand daughters along with many nieces and nephews.
