Gifts & Memorial Donations

Florence Falkinburg of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Lake Worth, FL and Little Neck, NY, passed away on August 28, 2016, at home, surrounded by her loving family and two devoted caregivers. She was born on October 11, 1918 to William and Clara Middleton in Manhattan, NY. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of sixty years, John N Falkinburg, by her sister, Rita Armstrong, and by her grandson, John Frankel.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Janie Dunham, Cheryl Newman, and Elise Falkinburg; sons-in-law, Robert Dunham, Stagg Newman, and Errol Frankel; grandchildren, Tracy, Christopher, and James; great-grandchildren, Clare, Owen, Eleanor, Amelia, and Kent.

Early on, Florence worked for Time Inc, and thereafter devoted full-time to family and home. Her lifetime interests were her gardens, flowers, and flower arranging, with cooking for family and friends a close follower. She was actively arranging flowers at Lake Pointe Landing for over eight years.

Filled with an unparalleled grace, kindness, and interest in others, Florence made friends easily and maintained contact with so many. Florence gave love and, thus, attracted love. She recognized an individual’s needs and interests, and would make the person feel valued. She radiated goodness and her sparkling eyes and beautiful smile would light a room and warm the heart.

We love her and will miss her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Our Lady of the Angels Chapel of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 8:30 pm Tuesday at Shuler Funeral Home.

Donations may be made in honor of Florence to Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Four Seasons Hospice, or the John Frankel memorial scholarship at Davidson College.

Shuler Funeral Home of Hendersonville, NC is managing the arrangements.

    S. Tyler says:
Please accept my sincere sympathy. The Holy Scriptures say that a person who lives for 80 years is especially strong. (Psalm 90:10) What a privilege that your mother lived for 97 years. Take comfort in God's promise concerning the hope of seeing her again and living in a world without tears where heartache and death will be no more.

Florence had a great love of the Eucharist (Holy Communion)... She is a great inspiration.
