Floy A. Raumer, 65, of Hendersonville, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Pardee Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Elizabeth City, NC she was a daughter of the late Fred Raumer and Elsie Deímore Raumer. She was a longtime resident of Miami, Florida prior to moving to Hendersonville 17 years ago.

She worked as an Activities Director for the elderly and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Surviving are three children Dawn M. Freeman and husband Homer of Hendersonville, Debra R. Sluder of Hendersonville and Dennis M. Jones of St. Paul, Minnesota; five grandchildren Amber Spangler, Krista Spangler, Tatum Spangler, Debra Nichole Sluder, and Richard Hunter Sluder; two great-grandchildren Nasiah Ferguson and Alijah Ferguson; a brother Fred Raumer; a sister Marie Anderson; and her dog Penny.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2005 Brevard Highway in Hendersonville. Elder Larry Shelton will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

    My aunt, Marie, told me of Floy's passing. I was so very fond of Floy, even though it had been a while since we had been in touch. She had the best laugh. She had an endless well of kindness and love. She will be missed.
