Gifts & Memorial Donations

Frances Ramona Davis Sisk Brackett, 77, of Hendersonville, NC, peacefully departed to her eternal home on Monday, June 11 following a three year residency at The Oaks of Sweeten Creek nursing center in Arden, NC, where she lost her valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Royston, GA on May 5, 1941, Ramona was the eldest daughter of Julian A. Davis and LaVerne Williams Davis, both deceased.
At age nine, Ramona experienced the joy of salvation and embraced an enduring faith in her Redeemer. When she was nearly 12 years old, she embraced her first sibling, and her second 17 months later, along with many new responsibilities. About the age of 17, Ramona took up the mantle of surrogate mother to her younger siblings while helping administer her mother’s care until her demise in 1972. Though well acquainted with suffering and loss, Ramona’s unwavering faith and dauntless courage helped her persevere through countless challenges with poise and a positivity.
During her lifetime, Ramona was twice married and widowed. At age 20, she wed William “Marshall” Sisk and began a happy life in Toccoa which sadly ended with his passing after 10 short years. In 1998, she married the now late William Theodore (Ted) Brackett and began a new life in Hendersonville where she attended First Methodist Church and was a member of Alma Lee Cheves Sunday School class.
While in Toccoa, Ramona was employed by Toccoa Clinic and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and active in their Ladies Circle. She and Marshall were members of Toccoa Country Club and enjoyed dancing, dining, and socializing with their many friends, family, and acquaintances. Both shared a love for nature and animals, and appreciated a diversity of music, art, books, and cuisine.
Before her life in N.C., Ramona lived alone in Anderson, SC while advancing her administrative career with Anderson Hospital in the purchasing department and later as the Director of Purchasing and Acquisitions. She enjoyed her dog, planting her terrace garden, reading, and walking. She particularly relished sharing meals, conversation, impromptu gatherings and getaway trips with loyal friends.
Ramona is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Rose Mary Davis Taylor and Charles “Chuck” Taylor of Asheville, NC; and Paula Davis Stack and Bob Stack of Woodstock, GA; one half-brother and sister-in-law: William (Whitt) and Pearl Plowden of Leesville, SC; one niece: Heather Davidson Phipps, husband Clay Phipps, and sons Oliver and Atticus of Villa Rica, GA; three nephews: Benjamin (Ben) Davidson, wife Buffie, and stepson Cooper of Decatur, GA; Charles Jeremy (Chuck) Taylor, wife Michelle, and sons Logan and Gavin of Toccoa; and Joshua (Josh) Taylor, wife Sabrina, and son Payton, also of Toccoa.
A memorial service will be held at Tates Creek Baptist Church (www.tatescreek.net) in Toccoa at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23. Pastor Jerrell Beatty will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tates Creek Baptist Church. For additional information view obituaries at shulerfuneralhome.com.
