Gary Michel Forcier, 61, of Saluda, passed away at his mountain ìShabinî on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 following a sudden illness. He was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on May 18, 1950, a son of the late Lowell A. Forcier and Betty Jo Campbell Forcier. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Jo Demoss.
A resident Henderson County since 2008, he retired from Dolphin Head Golf Club on Hilton Head Island where he was a golf professional. He loved soccer and Tarheel basketball and driving fast on mountain roads. He was a talented guitarist and percussionist. He created a warm and loving home with his two hands and his heart.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Ellen Nabers Forcier; their three daughters, Jacqueline, Elizabeth and Katie; one grandson, Jamie; one sister, Diana Jo Hinton; and two brothers, Tom, Denny, and Tony.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Sunday, January 22 at the Church of the Transfiguration, 72 Charles Street, Saluda, NC. The Reverend Paula C. Morton will officiate.
