G.B. Pruitt

G.B. Pruitt, 89, of Hendersonville, NC, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Pardee Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Greenville County, SC, he was the son of the late John and Molly Pruitt. He was also preceded in death by a son, Travis Kenneth Duncan; two brothers, Frank Pruitt and Bill Pruitt; and three sisters, Margie Pruitt, Doris Pruitt and Lucille Pruitt.

He lived most of his life in Henderson County. He was a self-employed painter and cab driver for Deever Cab Company for many years. He was a fine character and friend to all, never meeting a stranger. He was a member of the Church of God.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ruby Sweezy Pruitt; ten children, Frieda Candler, Barbara Duncan, Eddie Duncan, Jasper Duncan, Glenn Duncan, Peggy Duncan, Irene Munoz, Debra Phillips, Steve Duncan and William Thomas Pruitt; three sisters, Marie Barnwell, Ellen Turner, and Barbara Turner; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Reverend Dan Holbert will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 ñ 8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
