Harvey Moore, 85, of Mills River passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

Born in Henderson County, he was the son of the late Lucius T. and Lavada Lanning Moore. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Jones and Wanda Avey, and brothers, George Moore and Lewis Moore.

Mr. Moore was the co-owner of Moore and Son Site Contractors from 1987 to 2008. He was an avid and lifelong cattle farmer who had a love for all children. He enjoyed traveling and camping, and his dogs held a very special place in his heart. A member of Long Shoals Baptist Church, Harvey always looked forward to spending time with his church family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Doris Watson Moore; son, Rick Moore and his wife, Beverly; daughter, Karen Morgan Freeman and husband, Larry Freeman; son, Gary Morgan; grandchildren, Leslie Morgan, Taylor Moore and Malia Moore; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Kayla; and brother, Marvin Moore.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 Friday, October 30, 2015 at Long Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Rearden officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:30 PM Friday prior to the service at the church. Doris will receive friends at her home from 1 – 5 pm Wednesday and Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Long Shoals Baptist Church Building Fund, 661 Long Shoals Rd, Arden, NC 28704, or to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
