Helen Wilson Williams went to be with the Lord with her son by her side Monday, October 29, 2012 at her home in Hendersonville.
She was born in Etowah and was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Landrum Wilson, Sr. and Ella Hamilton Wilson.
Helen graduated as Valedictorian of the 1940 class of Etowah High School. Although her first love in life was being a mother, she had several other interests as well: she was an avid reader and gardener who loved flowers, butterflies, birds, and a well-kept yard! Helen made jelly and froze fruits and vegetables as recently as this past summer. She was such a strong-willed and determined, yet very loving woman. Even in the last days, she smiled often. Helen was a lifelong member of Refuge Baptist Church in Dana.
She is survived by her loving son, Troy ìBuddyî Williams and wife, Sandy, of Hendersonville; sister, Lillian Kiser of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Kim Creech and husband Chad of Wilmington; Shawn Riddle and wife Sara of Houston, TX; and Steven Riddle and fiancÈ Nicole of Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen had a special friend, Andrew Justice, of Hendersonville and her beloved cat, Ally.
Helenís family wishes to express their appreciation to Andrew, Dr. Hill, Four Seasons Compassion for Life, the staff of Economy Drugs and Shuler Funeral Home, and to the many friends and family members who offered their support and prayers.
No local services will be held. The family will be at the home of Troy Williams.
Memorials may be made to the Henderson County Humane Society, PO Box 706, Hendersonville, NC 28793, or to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
