Henry C. Kick, 82, of Hendersonville passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011.

He was born to Louis and Gertrude Kick in Union City, NJ.

He served in the US Air Force in the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He married JoAnn Woodard in 1952 and they shared 58 years together until her death in 2010. After his military service, he spent the rest of his career at US Envelope/MeadWestvaco where he retired after 38 years.

He and his wife moved to Hendersonville in 1993 and enjoyed their retirement here. He was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He had a wonderfully funny nature and was warm and kind to all those he loved and cared for.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Kick and Darcy Witaschek, both of Hendersonville, and Jerry Kick and his wife, Teresa, of Lawrenceville, GA; his brother, Louis Kick and wife, Lorraine, of South Plainfield, NJ; five grandchildren, Dustin Kick, Meredith Alberring, Matthew Kick, Michael Kick and Shawn Witaschek; and one great-grandchild, Rowan Witaschek.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

    He and JoAnn are together again happy and healthy. I love the both of them so much. I have so many wonderful memories of them from when I was part of their family. I couldn't asked for a better Father and Mother-in-law. My prayers are with all of you. I wish I could have been there today for Grandpa's memorial service.
