Henry George Erdman, 79, of Hendersonville, NC died Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Friedrich and Lydia Frenzel Erdman. Shortly after he was born, he and his family moved to Germany. He returned to the United States in 1947 and entered the US Army in 1952. While stationed in Austria, he met and married Lotte Lindtner. He returned to the US with his wife and lived in Elizabeth City, NC, before moving to Huntington, Long Island, NY, where he was employed by the US Postal Service. He was of the Lutheran faith.

An avid model railroad enthusiast, he worked with HO gauge trains.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lotte Lindtner Erdman of Hendersonville; two sons, Peter Erdman of Clifton, NJ, and Steven Erdman of North Branch, NY; three grandchildren, Henry, Madeline, and Owen; and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at a later date.
