Howard Raymond Ash, 88, of Hendersonville, and formerly of Lake Station, IN was taken home to our Lord Sunday, July 21, 2008.
Howard was born April 25, 1920 in Eckerty, IN to the late William and Ethel Ash.
Howard moved from Southern Indiana to Lake Station in 1955 where he was employed by U.S. Steel, retiring in 1982 and relocating to Hendersonville, NC. Howard was a member of American Legion Post 100 in Lake Station and Post 77 in Hendersonville, NC. Howard served in the United States Air Force from 1941 to 1945 during World War II. He attended Blue Ridge Christian Church in Mills River. During Howard’s retirement he enjoyed woodworking and taking his products to locations throughout the Hendersonville area as well as Maggie Valley. Howard was a wonderful husband and care taker for Deloris and a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deloris (Limp) Ash; one daughter Margaret (Phil) Trees of Hendersonville, NC; one son Roger (Barb) Ash of LaPorte, IN; three grandsons Phillip (Amy) Trees, Paul (Meghan) Trees, and Jason (Angie) Ash; two granddaughters Amanda (Vince) Bowman and Jenna (Andrew) Franks; 10 great grandchildren; one sister Susie Doughty; one brother Omer (Lois) Ash and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lloyd, Lowell, George and Roy Ash and three sisters, Mae, Bernice and Imogene.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, Indiana. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 10:00am until 1:00pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Blue Ridge Christian Church in Mills River. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service.
