Ireta Raines Cantrell, 74, of Hendersonville, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Julian Raines and Mary Drake Raines and wife of William Roy Cantrell who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Julian Coyis Raines.
For over 40 years she provided loving childcare in her home. She was Mamaw to all.
She attended Shawís Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are her five children, Joan Corn and husband Hershell of Mill Springs; Carolyn Wood and husband Joe of Concord; Shirley Waldrop and husband Timothy of Hendersonville; Eddie Cantrell and wife Maria of Mill Spring; and Diann Cantrell Owen of Hendersonville; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie Grissom and husband Billy of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Ellen Raines of Hendersonville; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30am Friday, June 11, 2010 at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bill Carpenter will officiate.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the family, friends and loved ones who have brought food, visited with and prayed for their family during this time. A special thanks to Four Seasons Compassion for life for the care shown to Ireta during her illness.
