J. Allison Briggs, born on August 10, 1923, went to be with his Father in Heaven on June 21, 2013.

Allison was raised in Indianapolis. He skated with Sonja Henie in the Hollywood on Ice show. A veteran of World War II, he served in Germany as a sergeant in the US Army. After graduating from Indiana University, he began a career in the real estate field.

In 1951 he married Eleanor Kernchen and started a family. They lived in Northbrook, Illinois for forty years before retiring to Hendersonville in 1997. An avid camper and traveler, Allison visited 49 states and western Europe. He enjoyed skiing and was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 29 years. As an active church member, Allison served on the Session, sang in the choir and supported the many outreach activities of the church. He was a member of Etowah United Methodist Church during his time in Hendersonville. As a descendant of James Allison, a founder of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he loyally attended the Indy 500 race for seventy years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor; a daughter, Kathryn; sons, James (Nancy) and Christopher; and two granddaughters, Cheryl and Laura.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
