V. Jake Hill, 62, of Hendersonville, NC, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at his home after an extended illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, NC, he was the son of the late Ulysses Grant Hill and Bertie R. Jackson Hill. He was also preceded in death by Benjamin G. Hill who died in 2007.

He was a member of the Dana Baptist Church and had been attending Valley Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his fiancée, Doris Henderson of Hendersonville; four daughters, Cheyanne Hill Griffin, Shannan Smith, Jennifer Morgan, and Sara Hill, all of Hendersonville; one son, Dwayne Hill of Hendersonville; four sisters, Bonnie Huntsinger of Greenville, SC; Betty Branyon of Anderson, SC; Alice Violette of Hendersonville; and Della Weeks of Fontana, CA; and six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 4, 2008 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. The Revs. Danny Pridmore and William Burrell will officiate. Burial will follow at Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
