James C. ìJimmyî Tankersley, 65, of Zirconia, NC, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home.

Born in Henderson County, he was the son of Jenny Ree Heatherly Tankersley of Zirconia and the late John Calvin Tankersley, who was a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II. Jimmmy was also preceded in death by his sister, Anita Case Gunter.

Jimmy was a very loving and very loved man. He had no enemies and got along well with everyone. He was a supervisor at J.P. Stevens for 24 years.

He is survived by his children, James Terrell Tankersley, Shannon Tankersley, Lanny Tankersley, Dustin Shane Tankersley, and Chase Lee Tankersley; his grandson, Austin McDonald; his daughter-in-law, Hope Tankersley, who was his caregiver through his fight with cancer; one sister, Dora Lee Travers and husband, Ed; four nephews; one niece; three great-nieces; and four great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Mountain View Baptist Church in Tuxedo. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Shuler Funeral Home.
