James David McKee

James D. McKee, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Saluda, NC, Tuesday morning, December 14, 2010.

Born in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late Jesse Logan McKee and Carrie Gibson McKee.

Jim received his degree in electrical engineering from Clemson University. Before retiring to Saluda in 2008, he had lived in Florence, Alabama for 43 years. He was employed by Reynolds Metals for 18 years and was the owner/operator of Alabama Electric Motor Service for 25 years.

He was a member of Saluda United Methodist Church. While living in Florence, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Edna Huntsinger McKee of Saluda, NC; his children, David McKee and wife, Judy, of Plainville, MA, and Betsy Dixon and husband, Chris, of Arden, NC; his brother, Richard McKee and wife, Holly, of Tryon, NC; and grandchildren, Brigid and Chloe McKee of Plainville, MA, Caroline McKee of Cincinnati, OH, and Logan Dixon of Arden, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Saluda United Methodist Church. The Reverend Rob Parsons will officiate. Burial will be private. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, for the wonderful care Jim received from their hospice staff.
