James Edward ìJimî Baine, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend entered into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father, as a result of an accidental death in Fair Play, SC on Monday, May 17, 2010.

He was a native of Cherokee County, NC, son of the late Bertha Deaver and Jeter Pritchard Baine. He retired in 1993 as Superintendent of North Carolina Department of Corrections Henderson County Unit after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a strong supporter of the Yoke Fellow and Blue Ridge Prison Ministries. He was a US Army Veteran, member of Kedron Masonic Lodge, Past Commander of Hubert M. Smith American Legion, a great fisherman, avid democrat and was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family and friends dearly and cherished his time with them. Dear Charlena, Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. Jim was a fun neighbor and always had a welcoming presence when I showed up in your driveway to hear a story or two. He will be sorely missed. Always know you have a shoulder to cry on, a friend to reminisce with and mostly a neighbor who will be there anytime!! We can share a tea or coke together on the deck and just hang out!! We love you and share in your sorrow!! Jean, John, Megan, Shannon and Sean Powers

To the family, Capt. Baine hired me as a correctional officer in 1983. There are so many tales and so many people.....I enjoyed his leadership and had the utmost respect from "a real old timer" who knew the business as it was and as I wish it was now Thank you Capt. for teaching me "where the rubber meets the road". I'll miss you.
