Gifts & Memorial Donations

We celebrate a significant life well lived of James Peter Pelto born October 11, 1961, in Detroit Michigan to Bob and Mary Pelto. He left his earthly home July 12, 2018. Those left to celebrate his life are his son James, daughter-in-law Kate, daughter Jenifer and son-in-law Jason, grandchildren Julie, Columbus, Bailey and Lucas. His mom, Mary, siblings Faith, Patti (Mike), Joan (Roger) and John (Lisa.) Also, his nieces and nephews, April, Jeani (Nick), Jason (Shannon), Angela (Jamal), Joel (Lisa), Nathan (Brandy), Evan, Mikey (Chay), Kendall (Cassie) and Melissa, many grand -nieces and grand-nephews, many other relatives and countless friends.

Those who went before him, his Dad, Bob, sister Cathy, brother-in-law Gerald, nephews Sean & Erik and many more.

Jim was raised in Michigan till he was 14 when he moved with his parents to Melbourne, Florida. A few years after graduating high school he worked with his Dad and fondly looked back on those years where he learned so much about being a diligent and reliable employee. In 2003 he moved to the Asheville NC area, to the mountains he so loved and became a long term and highly valued employee of Millar Industries in Arden NC.

All that knew Jim can attest to his amazing sense of humor. He jokingly referred to himself as Moses as he led so many family members to “the promised land.” There are now over 24 family members in NC that either relocated to the state, were married into or were born into this family.

Jim took up Jeeping several years ago and joined more than one club and made many friends. He recounted every trail ride with such joy. One of his many funny FB posts stated, “I work hard so my Jeep can have a good life!”

Jim was a very caring and giving man while extremely humble. He followed the first great commandment. He loved the Lord God with all his heart, soul and mind as well as the second which is to love your neighbor as yourself. He was very charitable giving generously to a wide variety of causes including True Patriot Inc. which supports our fallen soldier’s families and injured soldiers. He said on more than one occasion should he ever win a big lottery he would purchase a ranch for soldiers to recover from PTSD.

Jim loved and was loved. He was fun and funny. He was proud of his 100% Finnish heritage from which he acquired SISU (“guts.”) The endless wonderful memories of Jim will be forever cherished till we meet again.

Jim was my very first internet friend. Might not sound like a big deal, but we shared a lot of laughs together and I always treasure someone who makes me laugh. Gonna miss you, Jus Jim. Save some bacon for me....
