James D. McCauley, Jr., 88, of Hendersonville died February 29, 2008 at Pardee Hospital. He was the son of the late James D. McCauley, Sr. and May C. Kober McCauley.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a prior resident of Boynton Beach and Keystone Heights, FL before moving to Hendersonville in 1977. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Baker McCauley in 2005.
He earned his B.S. degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida. He was a vegetable farmer for twenty-three years before going into real estate sales. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club. He was a member and past president of the Delta Chi Fraternity. He loved football and gardening.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Joan M. Dill and her husband, John, of Hendersonville; Larry James McCauley and wife, Margie, of Lakeland, FL; and Bruce Louis McCauley and wife, Konda, of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Lara D. Morgan and husband, Mike; Jennifer Turnipseed and husband, Jamie; James Edward McCauley; Brandon Scott McCauley; Sean Michael McCauley; Lauren Renee McCauley; and Ashley Blaine McCauley; and four great-grandchildren, Chase, Brantley, Alayna and Kate.
A funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Pastor Ian Walker will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Shuler Funeral Home.
