James L. “Jim” Nolan died of a heart attack on Sunday, March 2, at his home in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was the husband of Theresa Stepp Nolan, a native of Hendersonville and graduate of East Henderson High School.
Jim was born in Kansas City Missouri and obtained an M.A. in journalism from the University of Oklahoma. After working as the editor of the Daily Standard in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and then as a journalist for trade publications dedicated to the fresh produce industry, he was hired as domestic and international sales manager of fresh fruit for Ocean Spray Cranberries based in Middleboro, Massachusetts. Jim and Theresa were married on June 27, 1976 at St. John in the Wilderness Church here in Hendersonville.
He was 61 years old and is survived by Theresa and his mother, Helen Hutchens, from Kansas City, Missouri. Theresa is the daughter of Elizabeth Saunders Stepp and the late Leon Stepp, Sr. of Hendersonville.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum on Tracy Grove Road in Hendersonville. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the mausoleum.
