James Thomas ìTommyî ìPaî Summerall, Sr., 63, of Hendersonville, NC, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 22, 2009 at his home.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late James Lester Summerall and Ruby Estelle Mize Summerall, and the husband of the late Bernice Case Summerall, who died in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Veralee Summerall and Vivian Johnson.

He and his wife owned and operated a janitorial service that served, among other businesses in Henderson County, the Mountain Community School. He was a member of Stoney Mountain Baptist Church. He will be lovingly remembered as the best dad, grandfather, and friend by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Summerall and wife, Shannon, of Hendersonville; two daughters, Cindy Buckner and husband, Stephen, of Flat Rock, and Karen Escorcia and husband, Tilo, of Etowah; eight grandchildren, Cassey, Jonathan, Eric, Cheyenne, Jessica, Daniel, Justin, and Matthew; two sisters, Ann Phillips and husband, Charles, of Hendersonville, and Dot Bailey and husband, Bud, of Edneyville; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Stoney Mountain Baptist Church. The Reverends Larry Appleby, Keith Sizemore, and Thomas Glenn will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Mountain Community School, 613 Glover Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

    Jimmy and the Summerall Family, Please accept my families condolences for the loss of your dad. I went to school with you Jimmy and my family lives across the street from the school. My husband and I spoke with your dad several times from the beginning of the contruction of the school up until recently. May God Bless and help you during this time of sorrow.
